Top of the morning to everyone! It’s been a busy month. We distributed quilts to two agencies in January. Our first delivery of 20 quilts went to the Salvation Army shelter for women and children. Our second delivery of 20 quilts, 20 flannel blankets, 50 burping cloths, 20 pillow friends, and 20 pieces of clothing went to Alpha Center for Women. Stay tuned; there were many quilts delivered in February.

Celebrating the holidays and our record of 1,003 quilts at Milano’s Restaurant.

Thank you to all who stopped by our table at the Club Fair. We would love to have some of you join – no sewing skills required. There are lots of things to do. If you do sew, you don’t have to complete every phase of the quilt-making process. Many hands are involved in the final quilt. We have sewing machines available for your use.

We were excited to see articles about us in the Ocala Gazette and the Interfaith Emergency Services monthly newsletter. Check our Facebook page to view the articles.

Did you know that the most expensive quilt ever sold was a Civil War-era piece purchased for $254,000 in 1991 (the equivalent of $470,230 in 2018)?

See our program in action in the Hobby Building Art Room A & B. We meet every Thursday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and on the second and third Saturdays of the month from noon to 3 p.m.

Can’t sew? No problem. Our program requires many sewing tasks. We have sewing machines available, or you can bring your own.

Meet an amazing and talented group of ladies and gentlemen. Dues are $15 for the year.

We always need cotton fabric with a children’s theme, solid cotton, or flannel. Hobby Lobby gift cards and Kohl’s Cash are also welcome. We use Kohl’s Cash to purchase clothing for several of our agencies.

Join our Facebook page (Sewing Bees Club Inc.) to see what magic takes place at the hive. You can also stay current on what we are working on and our current needs.
