The Veterans Club had the privilege and honor to present a proclamation to Chester Weber for saving the U.S. Army’s caisson program at Arlington National Cemetery. This Ocala native and supporter of the veteran community has used his expertise in equestrian management to revive the horse-drawn caisson program for the U.S. Army. The horses that pulled the caisson for President Jimmy Carter were trained here in Ocala by local equestrian experts. This program would be history and unavailable to our future veterans without Chester Weber. This is one of the most time-honored traditions the military has.

March is rich with dates to remember and honor our veterans: March 3 – U.S. Navy Reserve Birthday; it was formed in 1915; March 13 – K-9 Veterans Day; March 25 – Medal of Honor Day; and March 29 – Vietnam Veterans Day.Photo by Frances Calhoun.
