Saturday, June 14, is Flag Day. The United States flag is the symbol of our great country. The veteran community takes our flag seriously, and the respect shown is a vital part of our identity. We strive to educate our community on the proper display of our flag.
On Flag Day, we will host a program at Ocala/Marion County Veterans Memorial Park, which will include an essay contest for elementary school students. The goal has been to have veterans visit classrooms, teach flag etiquette and history, and share their stories of service and what the flag means to them. The students will receive awards for their essays from veteran and community organizations, including the Veterans Club and the American Legion Post 354. Following the ceremony, a flag retirement ceremony will take place.

The Veterans Club meeting is on the third Thursday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Arbor Conference Center Dance Studios I-IV. All veterans and supporters are welcome to attend.
