Golden Years Kyudo is a new club dedicated to the practice of kyudo, one of Japan’s oldest martial arts. Dating back to 1 A.D., Kyudo is more than just archery; it’s a way to cultivate self-awareness and spiritual maturity through mindful practice.  Influenced by Shinto, Confucian, and Buddhist philosophies, the art of the Japanese longbow provides a unique path to both physical and mental well-being.

Golden Years Kyudo is open to all residents and is part of the Archery Club. We offer free weekly instruction, utilizing a progressive teaching method that allows you to learn at your own pace. All essential equipment is provided, so you can just show up and start your journey.

We meet at the archery range every Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. Except on the fourth Wednesday, you will find us at the Arbor Conference Center Dance Studio IV from 4 to 7 p.m. Whether you try shooting a Japanese longbow or simply observe a class, you are always welcome.

Starting in January 2026, we will be offering a one-day course titled “Experience Kyudo, the Japanese Art of Longbow Archery” at Master the Possibilities. The course will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8, Monday, Feb. 9, Thursday, March 5, and Monday, April 13. All sessions will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Shooting a bow that is over seven and a half feet long is a truly unique experience. We hope you will try it once – and maybe even continue the journey of kyudo with us.
