Join us on Wednesday, Nov. 11, as we recognize and commemorate the brave men and women who have risked all for the life and liberty you enjoy today.

If you haven’t been to one of these before, it’s not a bunch of grizzled veterans sitting around telling war stories. It is a respectful gathering of all those who have served, all those whose lives have been affected by a loved one’s service, and all those who value the sacrifice made by a few, so that all can enjoy the freedom we take for granted. If you belong in any of those three buckets, please join us.

The main ceremony is unlike anything else I’ve been to in our community. There actually may be a war story, but there will also be reverence, gratitude, dignity, respect, singing, dancing, and a wistful but proud sense – that feels good down to the bone – of a job well done, and a country well served.

The main ceremony will be at 11 a.m. in the Recreation Center, and a brief flag ceremony will also be held at 8 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park. Remember – honor – pay it back.
