On Top of the World is excited to announce the launch of its new Wellness Volunteer Program, an initiative designed to empower residents to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their neighbors while enhancing their own well-being. Volunteering is recognized as one of the seven dimensions of wellness because of its powerful impact on physical, emotional, and social health. Research shows that individuals who volunteer experience greater life satisfaction, stronger social connections, a renewed sense of purpose, and even improved overall health. In an active adult community like On Top of the World, volunteering creates opportunities to stay engaged, meet new people, and contribute to a vibrant and supportive community culture.

Residents interested in becoming a “Wellness Warrior” are invited to attend the official kickoff event on Friday, Aug. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Recreation Center Ballroom. During the event, attendees will learn about volunteer opportunities, discover how they can support wellness initiatives throughout the community, and connect with fellow residents who share a passion for helping others.

On Top of the World’s Wellness Volunteer Program is designed for residents who want to help others stay active, connected, and engaged. Whether assisting with special events, welcoming new residents, or serving as ambassadors for healthy living, volunteers will play an important role in strengthening community connections and enhancing the resident experience.

The program’s launch is especially significant as we celebrate Chris Riopel, who has officially become the very first Wellness Warrior! Chris’s willingness to step forward and volunteer embodies the spirit of service and community that makes On Top of the World such a special place to live.

Chris is not new to volunteering; she has generously donated her time assisting at the On Top of the World Library, the Friends of Freedom Library, ReadingPals for United Way, the World Equestrian Center, the Reilly Arts Center, and the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association. When I asked Chris what she enjoys about being a volunteer, she shared, “I get reward in knowing that I can make a difference in other people’s lives, even though I might not interact with them directly. I say, “pay it forward!””

Residents who would like to register for the kickoff event can do so through the OTOW App > Recreation Events. We encourage everyone to consider becoming part of this exciting new program and discover the many rewards that come from giving back. Residents who are eager to apply to become a Wellness Warrior can do so now at OTOWInfo.com > Resident Information > Volunteer. Together, we can build friendships and demonstrate community support, one Wellness Warrior at a time.
