This year’s Memorial Day ceremonies will be distinctive, recognizing the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding. Please note that the main ceremony starts at a different time.
Each year, the Veterans Club hosts two remembrance ceremonies. In honor of our country’s extraordinary milestone, Master the Possibilities has also advertised these ceremonies and made them available to non-residents (see page 41). In addition, Master the Possibilities will present another event next month, “The Grand Finale, Exploring 250 Years of America.”
This Memorial Day, on Monday, May 25, the club will conduct its traditional flag-raising ceremony at 8 a.m. at the Veterans Park. A very special Memorial Day ceremony will follow at 10 a.m. (an hour earlier than usual). We’ll be trying something new and memorable, but to truly make it special, we’ll need your help and participation.
If you can, please bring photos of your beloved veterans to be displayed in the Recreation Center Ballroom. These photos and many other exhibits will depict 250 years of honorable service and sacrifice. For those who’ve served, and their loved ones, it promises to be a heartfelt and poignant collection.
Speakers from various services will share special insights into their branch’s contributions. Our Blue Star mothers and fathers will honor our active-duty service members. Our speakers will also highlight some of the traditions the military uses to commemorate its heroes.
This will be a distinctive and memorable ceremony, perhaps one of a kind? Please join us to remember our heroes – their sacrifice was the ultimate act of love for our country. Let us honor them.
